Characterizing Sudden Oak Death in Host Tree Umbellularia californica

Study exploring fungal pathogen prevalence in host trees using historical and field data, revealing inconsistent testing strategies

For this project, I conducted a field study to determine the relationship between various ecosystem factors and the prevalence of the fungal pathogen responsible for sudden oak death, Phytophthora ramorum.

Historical data was obtained from previous Bioblitz events and current data was created through field measurements of 7 host trees (Umbellularia californica).

I used ArcGIS Pro, Google Earth, and RStudio for data processing and analysis. Data analysis revealed inconsistency in repeat tree testing making it difficult to draw conclusions around significant trends
